The Empire State Building houses transmission facilities for the instructional television station of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York and the communications operations of the New York Telephone Company. In addition, the building serves as the nerve center for network television remote relays and accommodates paging services, microwave operations, two-way radio facilities, and the Multipoint Distribution Service facility, which provides closed-circuit broadcasts of movies and sporting events to selected sites in the city.
